Kingston's Rockit Boutique is hosting a meet and greet with legendary Detroit rapper Royce da 5'9" on Saturday, March 3rd. Royce has a long list of hip-hop credentials, including his close association with Eminem, recording with the likes of DJ Premier and even ghostwriting for Diddy and Dr. Dre. His relationship with fellow Detroit legend Eminem started back in 1997 when they were introduced to each other at a show and then quickly became a musical duo by the name of Bad Meets Evil. Royce and Eminem recorded a few hit tracks but later split ways in pursuit of solo careers. Royce went on to see success with each album that he debuted, including "Death Is Certain", "Street Hop", and "Success Is Certain", just to name a few. 2009 saw Royce collaborate with Joe Budden, Crooked I, and Joell Ortiz on a track called "Slaughterhouse", which garnered a lot of hype and led to all three of these artists forming a super group, titled with the same name as their hit track. Later that year they released a full album featuring production from the likes of The Alchemist and DJ Khalil. This brought even more acclaim to their group and they eventually were signed to Shady Records in early 2011. This proved to be an even bigger year for Royce as he also reunited with Eminem to form Bad Meets Evil once again. In June 2011, the two released "Hell: The Sequel". From that album came the massive, worldwide hit single, "Lighters" featuring Bruno Mars. Bad Meets Evil are rumoured to be releasing a LP in 2013, as Eminem has decided to first release his next solo album. Be sure to make your way down to Rockit Boutique at 5:00pm sharp, where you can get the chance to see Royce da 5'9" in person, answering questions, taking pictures, and signing autographs.
