Sunday Bikedays

Every Sunday morning through the summer, you'll see people of all ages turn out on the Capital parkways to walk, run, cycle or skate from 9:00 a.m. to l:00 p.m and from 6 am to noon for the Gatineau parkways. Sixty-five kilometres of parkways are reserved for this purpose, free from motor traffic. For more information on biking in Kingston check out our Kingston Bike Guide.

Sunday Bikeday Facts

  • Sunday Bikedays are for cycling, walking, jogging, in-line skating and other recreational, non-motorized activities.
  • Over 80,000 people took part in Sunday Bikedays during the 1996 season.
  • The city of Kingston was ranked the 8th best cycling city in North America by Bicycling Magazine in 1995.
  • Kingston has the highest per capita population of cyclists in Canada.
  • Each household in the Kingston area has an average of 1.7 bikes.
  • In-line skating is growing rapidly and Sunday Bikedays is one of the best times to practice this sport.
  • Sunday Bikedays are sponsored by the Capital area radio and made possible by the participation of many organizations who provide volunteers who ensure safety at crossings, start and end points every Sunday morning.

If you are driving to the parkways to cycle, park at the Aviation Museum to access the Rockcliffe Parkway, Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre at Carling Avenue to access the Kingston River Parkway and along side streets to access Colonel By Drive.
