In August 1956, the Diocese of Ontario bought three lots at the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Cranbrook Street. The land had originally been part of the Redden farm and came with an old barn. The Rev. John Hart, rector of Christ Church, Cataraqui was appointed priest-in-charge and celebrated the first service on November 4, 1956 in the spruced-up old barn. Within six months, the congregation had made up its mind to build a new church and had been provided with its own rector, the Rev. Henry Hill. Parishioners gave generously and the church was built in short order, with the dedication taking place on January 31, 1959 by the Rt. Rev. K.C. Evans, Bishop of Ontario.
