Queen's Athletics and Recreation's vision is to be the leading athletics and recreation program in Canada.

Queen’s Athletics & Recreation’s is the leading sport camp provider in the Kingston area offering a variety of different camps for all age groups and skill levels. From our beginner
ActiveFUN to our Elite Gaels Camps, the Athletics & Recreation Q-Camp program has your children’s needs covered throughout the calendar year.
Our camp counsellors create a positive atmosphere designed to help your children develop friendships, athletic skills, and most of all have FUN. Q-Camps not only teach sports skills,
but intend to help campers learn positive attitudes while encouraging teamwork, cooperation and fair play. All campers are encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle while gaining positive self esteem.

Queen’s Athletics and Recreation Camps offer a wide variety of services to ensure you have peace of mind while having your child is in our care.
Facilities
Q-Camps utilize the state-of-the-art Athletics and Recreation Centre
(ARC) which is a 47,000 square-metre multi-purpose athletic facility in
the heart of campus. It features two gymnasiums, two combative rooms,
four dance studios, 10 squash and racquetball courts as well as a gigantic
38x35 metre pool. The ARC is also large enough for campers to enjoy
lunch within the premises. Also utilized is Tindall Field – Athletics &
Recreation’s multi-purpose artificial multi-season playing field. This gives
campers a chance to be active outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Staff
Our counsellors are mature university students who are selected for their
expertise in physical activity and ability to work with youngsters. Each
staff member is required to submit a background check and complete
an extensive training course before camp begins. All counsellors are
certified in CPR/First Aid as well as operational safety procedures.

Included is everything a parent needs to know about a how our camps
operate. This document should answer parent’s questions to help make
the camp experience enjoyable for child and parent!
Before and After Camp Care Program
Before and after camp care is available for all Summer Camps. Care is
available starting at 7:30am or in the afternoons until 5:45pm. Parents
must book prior to the start of camp at Customer Service inside the
Athletics and Recreation Centre or during online registration
Lunch Option Available
Lunch can be ordered from PITA PIT or onsite through our canteen for a
nominal fee. Parents should consult the Parent Survival Guide available
for download at www.gogaelsgo.com (May 1) for full details.
Drop-off & Pick Up
Campers should be dropped off between 8:30 - 8:45am & picked up
between 4:30 - 4:45pm at the Main Gym in the Athletics and Recreation
Centre (284 Earl Street). Street parking is available around campus close
to the Main Gym and underground parking (paid) is available directly
beneath the Athletics and Recreation Centre off of Division Street.
Spring Camps
Basketball – Spring Elite Girls Shooting
The focus is on shooting technique, incorporating
perimeter and post shooting. For girls entering
Grade 9 – 12 (aged 14 – 18 yrs).

Basketball – Spring Elite Girls Skills
The focus is on individual skill development, helping
develop the athlete into a complete player. Tuesday
evenings, 7 – 9pm for 7 weeks. For girls entering

1/2 Basketball & 1/2 Volleyball
A combination camp ideally suited to foster the interest of youngsters. A fun and energetic environment lead by members of the Gaels volleyball and basketball teams. Campers will be introduced to the FUN-damentals of both sports. Finish each day with a swim in the pool! For boys and girls entering Grade 3 – 8 (aged 8-13).

Field Sports Camp
Play on the artificial turf TINDALL FIELD! Learn the games of soccer, ultimate, flag football,etc. See Parent Survival Guide for all details. For boys and girls aged 8 to 13.

Just for Fish
Is your child a fish in the water? Could they spend all day in the pool? This is the camp for them. Warning, they may not want to go home! They will play a variety of aquatic games and receive instruction in: water polo, diving, synchro, competitive swim techniques and more! All our aquatics instruction is led by certified Lifesaving Society Instructors. Prerequisite Red Cross Swim Kids Level 5 or equivalent, be comfortable in deep water, and be able to swim 25-metres non-stop. For girls or boys aged 8 to 13.

Girls Club
This camp will introduce strategies for dealing with some of the challenges they face on a day to day basis. Course includes special guest speakers from the community. See Parent Survival Guide for details. For girls aged 10 to 14.

Leader in Training
A must take for high school students aspiring to work in recreation or camp setting. CPR/First Aid Certification included. Participants will complete 40 hours of volunteer service. See Parent Survival Guide for details. This is a two week camp. For leaders aged 13 to 18.

Swim & Gym
Play on land and in the water for fun and fitness. Must be comfortable in deep water and able to swim a minimum of 25 meters non-stop. See Parent Survival Guide for details. For girls and boys aged 8 to 13.

Athlete Conditioning Camp
The Queen’s Athlete Conditioning Camp will teach participants the essentials of injury prevention, sports nutrition and strength, speed and agility training. Days will consist of outdoor training on our artificial turf field; weight room instructional sessions, nutrition lectures and pool based training sessions. For boys and girls ages 10 and up.

Basketball – Elementary
This camp is for boys and girls looking to improve their skills in a fun environment. Groups will be gender specific. See Parent Survival Guide for details. Campers Gr. 5 - 8.

This camp is for players looking to develop their basketball specific skills. Co-ed Camp for grade 9 and up (groups will be gender specific). See Parent Survival Guide for details. Campers entering Gr. 9 and up.

Fencing
Learn from varsity coaches and players to fence with all 3 weapons. This camp will take place at West Campus. See Parent Survival Guide for details. NO Camp Monday August 1. For ages 10-16.

Football
This will be a great introductory skills camp for
young football enthusiasts. Exciting, instructional,
FUNdamental football at its best! Players will be
coached by members of the Gaels Football Team.
No equipment necessary EXCEPT mouth guard and
cleats. Camp is for 8 – 13 year olds.

Lacrosse
This camp will focus on the basic techniques of lacrosse. Taught by the Gaels Head Coach and athletes. Campers will be divided according to skill and age. Goggles and helmets required. Sticks available but if you have your own, please bring. For boys and girls aged 10 – 14 years old.

Soccer
Learn from varsity coaches and players on Tindall field. Fundamental soccer skills and drills will be taught. For boys and girls aged 8 - 16.

Volleyball – Elementary
This camp is for campers looking to develop fundamental skills and basic volleyball systems. See Parent Survival Guide for details. All campers will be divided in groups according to skill level on the first day of camp. NO camp Monday August 1. Ages 10 - 13yrs.
