Great Skate Exchange is on!
Donate used skates at City community centres or Canadian Tire
KINGSTON, ONT./ Dec. 5 - The Great Skate Exchange is now accepting
donations of gently-used skates. The Great Skate Exchange is a program
of the City-run P.R.O. Kids charity, which helps all Kingston kids have
access to recreational activities.
The Great Skate Exchange collects donated skates and pairs them with
those who need them. Youth and adult sizes are especially needed this
year.
"We want to help as many people as possible this year. We need skates in
all sizes so that we do not have to turn anyone away." says Denita Dyck,
Assistant Supervisor, Recreation Programs.
Those who need skates can call 613-542-3817 to set up an appointment at
the Wally Elmer Neighbourhood Centre at 50 MacCauley St. The skates can
be taken home and used anywhere in the City.
Gently-used skates are now being collected at the following locations:
- Any Canadian Tire store in Kingston
- Artillery Park Aquatic and Fitness Centre, 76 Ordnance St.
- Wally Elmer Neighbourhood Centre, 50 MacCauley St.
- Cataraqui Arena, 1030 Sunnyside Rd.
- Centre 70 Arena, 100 Days Rd.
- Invista Centre, 1350 Gardiners Rd.
- Memorial Centre, 45 York St.
Last year's skate exchange brought in about 350 pairs of skates, most of
which have already been donated to children and families in need.
