First Capital Day
First Capital Day is a celebration held June 15th that commemorates Kingston's place in Canadian history as the nation's first capital when on this date, Lord Sydenham opened the first Parliament of the United Provinces of Canada in Kingston.
School children are taught about their city’s history through organized curriculum and the townspeople are treated to a full calendar of events, from musicians to historical presentations. First Capital Day is a time of family ties and friendships.
