A Heritage of Caring for Over 26 Years….
Our Mission: To provide comfort and support for individuals and families living with life-limiting illnesses or coping with grief and loss.
Day Program
Each Tuesday Hospice holds a Day Program at St. Mary's Parish Centre which is situated at Brock and
Clergy Street. This is a day away from home for patients who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.
The program also provides a day of respite for the caregiver. A volunteer driver collects the patient from
their home and returns them to their residence after the program has finished. Between 10 a.m. -2 p.m.
volunteers and staff provide care and comfort to the group. We provide entertainment, friendly chats over
coffee and snacks, also a game of cards before sitting down to a hot lunch. For those wishing to
relax, theraputic touch is also provided. The VON provides Foot Care every 6 weeks. Patients return to
their home with flowers provided for the program.
Respite Visiting
Trained volunteers who have completed a 30 hour Palliative Care course go to the home of the patient for
friendly visiting, our volunteers are enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate individuals, often
becoming a "friend to our patients." They offer the caregiver a chance to have a few hours to leave
the home and do such things as banking, shopping, medical appointments etc.
Transportation
Volunteers drivers are available to take patients and their caregivers to hospital and other medical
appointments.
